Welcome to Gary Anderson's

ABCLg Gary

The place where your words come to shine!

Hello! My name is Gary Anderson, and though I'm a writer, editor, manuscript analyst, consultant, and ghostwriter, over the years, I have come to realize that I'm really in the dream business. Every day, I set about helping writers pursue their publishing dreams by making their manuscripts as strong as they can be, and nothing makes me happier than watching as a writer's dreams begin to become a reality.

Why do YOU write?

If you're like most authors, you write because there's something inside that says you must write if you're going to realize your full potential. That means that setting your thoughts down on paper or in your computer is something you have to do. It's just something that's intricately woven into the fabric of who you are as a human being. It's something you know instinctively you're supposed to do - and you could no more give up your writing than you could sprout wings and fly!

Deep down, you know that your writing is what makes you the unique, special person you are, pure and simple - no matter what types of subjects you feel compelled to write about.

That's all well and good, and following your bliss is one of the most beautiful things a person can do, but there are several factors that can hold an author back in the pursuit of their writing dreams - and I can help overcome any or all of those factors.

That's why I offer my clients many levels of help.

Ghostwriting

There are many people who have a story they want to share with the world, but they simply don't have the writing background, experience, or confidence to do it themselves. That's when an experienced ghostwriter can help. The process of hiring a ghostwriter may seem  intimating, but it shouldn't be. As I'm fond of telling my clients, I've never lost a writer yet!

I've ghosted more than twenty books for writers across America, and no matter how much help you might need to tell your story in the most effective and touching way, I can help bring your vision to life.

Editing

There are times when even the most inspired and talented writers need to turn their words over to an experienced editor, to check spelling, continuity, and all the other factors that come into play when creating a well-crafted work. No matter how talented or inspired you may be, it's always worthwhile to have a second set of eyes look over your manuscript. (I had to do the same with my own four books!)

If you want your words to touch people at the deepest level, your words need to be polished until they sparkle, and that's true regardless of your choice of subject matter. As an experienced professional with more than eighty full-length manuscript edits to my credit, I can help make your words shine - without altering your original voice.

ESL (English as a Second Language) Editing

As our economy becomes more global, individuals and businesses from around the world have begun to realize that communicating in perfect English is imperative to their success. In order to be competitive in the world marketplace, it's important to impress clients, and making sure that everything customers see, whether it's sales brochures, websites, manuals, or everyday correspondence, is written in perfect English goes a long way toward making that all-important favorable first impression.

I've helped many non-native English-speaking people by revising their work into perfect English. It's one of the most rewarding things I do. If you need help turning your words into English that will get your message across, whether it's business-related, college work, or a full-length book, I'll be glad to help make that dream come true.

Manuscript Analysis

If you just need an opinion about what type of work your manuscript needs to make it the best it can be, I bring a vast amount of experience to that task, as well, since I've done more than 800 manuscript analyses for a number of publishers. I'll give you a detailed analysis, and the cost is quite reasonable. Once you've received your analysis, if you decide to have me revise your book, I'll credit half of the cost of the anlaysis toward the editing fees.

Consulting

If you just need to talk to someone knowledgeable in the publishing world about your manuscript or to get advice on how to proceed, I can help with that, too. I'm available for private consultations or just to give you a little nudge in the right direction to get you back on track.

How can I help you pursue your writing dreams?

For more than twenty years, I've specialized in spiritual material as a writer, editor, and ghostwriter, but I've also worked with dozens of manuscripts in the business, sports, humor, and human interest fields. Regardless of what type of material I'm working on, you can always count on one thing to remain constant: my commitment to excellence and to giving you more than you expect.

To read comments from a number of satisfied clients, see the Client Praise page. You'll also find more testimonials on the Resume page and sprinkled throughout the website. Please feel free to browse to your heart's content, and if you have questions, I do this fulltime, so you'll get a prompt answer to your inquiry.

Now's the time to reach for your dreams, and I'm here to help. Remember, you've got a friend in the Heartland!

Here's what editing clients have to say!

"This experience has been more than pleasurable. I couldn't ask for more out of an editor. Like most aspiring authors, I have big plans for my project, but there were a couple parts of my manuscript that made me wince when I thought about them. I hoped they'd be buffed out in editing, and they certainly were. I have more confidence in my work now and can proudly represent it wherever I go. Thanks."

Leighton Campbell, The Other Way: A Guide to a Financially Successful Graduation

"When I was managing editor of Hampton Roads Publishing, Gary Anderson was one of my most dependable editors. He returned work promptly, often before deadline. He has a gift for seeing how the book can be best organized as well as tending to details. More important, he brings respect for each author and each project. That doesn't mean he won't tell you the truth! You'll get an honest appraisal of how your book can best be prepared."

Rebecca Williamson,  former Managing Editor, Hampton Roads Press

"Gary is my rock! He's a great guy to work with and I've been universally pleased with his work. He's edited more than thirty books for us to date, and our authors have been very complimentary about his work."

Mark Spratt, Cork Hill Press

"Thank you so much for all you have done for my dream!"

Carolyn Flaherty, The Great Grandpoo

“Thanks for your help with my book, Gary. You are a wizard!

Bill Adams, What Does It All Mean?

“I want you to know that I feel I have found the right editor for my works.”

Matt Stanley, The Leadership Myth

One of my own freelance pieces was voted Best Personality Feature of 1999 by the Iowa Newspaper Association. I've published four books, more than 600 articles, and I've ghostwritten nearly a dozen books. Since 1996, I've written a monthly humor/inspiration column for Iowa REC News, reaching 165,000 readers.

Some praise from recent writing clients:

"Gary, working with you has really been one of the best feelings I've ever had in my life, no matter how the sales go. And you, my friend, are the biggest reason for making my writing dreams come true. Thank you many times over."
Curtis Cowan, You're the Doctor - Fix the Problem!

"Gary polished my article and increased my sales in one day! After hiring another so-called 'expert' to add pizzazz, I was thrilled, because Gary's changes made a huge sales difference."
Jeanette Fisher, www.joytothehome.com

"I've just read your rewrite, and it's brilliant! It's still my story but you've made it a story that captures and holds the reader's interest. I can't thank you enough."

R. D. Fox, The Breakers
